- Adventures with my favourite small person...Thanks for the tag @lesbemums on your post about an MPs comments that they think parents should be able to choose when their kids are “exposed” to LGBT+ families/lifestyles. I don’t understand why this same message always comes up when talking about anything to do with the LGBT+ community. “Expose” is such a loaded word. The implication that children won’t be innocent any more if they know that LGBT+ people exist. It’s odd. Because if we were to apply this in any other situation it would be 100% wrong. Example: I don’t want my kid exposed to black people until I’m good and ready! I don’t want my kid exposed to Islam until I say it’s ok! I don’t want my kid exposed to disabled people until I’m ok with it! All of those statements are deplorable. So, why is it ok to say these things about LGBT+ people? We’re here. We’re not going anywhere. We exist whether people say we do or not. But I just don’t get it. Why is homophobia/transphobia/biphobia/any thing else under the same umbrella not considered to be as “serious” as racism and similar? Why are we last? Two minutes. I left her for two minutes. This is why mums shouldn’t pee. Ever.
