What Are You Looking For?

- My current read. Late last year, I moved on from the NHS. I’d been a proud NHS employee for the best part of eight years, but it got to the point where I was tired of public services. I was tired of low budgets and poor morale. I was also tired of earning less than many in a similar job to mine earned. I was tired of seeing clinical staff overstretched and stressed out. I was tired of seeing patients frustrated by budget cut decisions made at government level. I had a moment of clarity whilst looking for jobs where I realised that I needed to leave the NHS, and it inspired so much calm in me. Then this job came along and here I am! It’s difficult, because some part of me will always love the NHS. Obviously I love it as a patient, but my new job can be somewhat soulless and I miss the “making a difference” side of being an NHS employee. Some of my favourite people are people I met whilst working for the NHS. There’s real passion in NHS buildings all across the UK. Unfortunately there is also red tape and budget cuts. I wouldn’t go back, though. I’ll always support the NHS. We’ll really miss it when it ends up being privatised. I still wear my rainbow NHS pin with pride and always will. What are you reading?Papa and Eden day of fun!Two days left of my 48 hour week. I wonder why I’m tired, and shift work historically makes people more tired. The last few shifts have been eight hour ones, but today and Sunday I’m working twelve hours and I haven’t done that in such a long time that it think it’s a bit of a shock to the system! Thankfully it means more time for coffee dates with Eden. She’s still going to the childminder on Monday and Tuesday (because she lives her best life there!), but the rest of the week it’s going to be mummy and Eden time!
